Rebus was founded in 2017. Since then, we have developed a reputation for providing a high quality, customer service driven sub-contracted labour solution to hundreds of recruitment agencies across all sectors in the United Kingdom.

Rebus is owned by a former HMRC Tax Inspector and our staff have over 25 years’ experience in the industry. This wealth of compliance knowledge and experience in the industry allows us to offer the highest level of customer service to our agency partners and this is evident in the long running relationships we have as well as our high retention rates within our workforce.

Due to changes in the temporary labour market legislation, the way you are paid is determined by your personal circumstances, how you are engaged, what job you do and how you do that job.

rebus. Self-Employment

  • Fully self-employed status.
  • Tax deducted based on verified tax rate with HMRC.
  • Public liability insurance provided therefore no need to obtain your own policy.
  • Weekly text message and emailed income statement.
  • Access to income statements via portal to assist with completing annual tax return.
  • Discounted tax return submission if you use us.
  • Dedicated customer service team on hand to help.

This is only available to those contractors who are operating within the Construction Industry and who meet the requirements for Self-Employment*.

Due to the legislative conditions in this area of the market we can only offer this service in conjunction with the designated recruitment company’s approval.

Frequently Asked Questions.

When paid umbrella, you are employed by Rebus Consulting Services Ltd. All taxes are deducted through the PAYE scheme. You will be paid at least the national minimum wage for every hour worked.

As an employee of Rebus, you are entitled to all statutory benefits including statutory sick pay, maternity pay and paternity pay provided you meet the current government requirements.

As an employee of Rebus, you accrue holiday pay. This is retained in a pot and will be paid out to you when you are not working. The holiday pay accrual amount is included in the rate received by Rebus from your agency.

You will receive a text message from Rebus the pay before you are paid informing you of the net pay you will receive. You will also receive a payslip including all income and deductions.

Depending on your individual circumstances, you may be allowed to claim tax relief on certain expenses through Rebus. Please contact the team for further information.

This will depend on your arrangement with the agency. Generally, payments are processed on a Thursday evening to clear in your bank Friday morning. However, payments can be made 7 days a week.

You don’t. Employers national insurance is an employer cost. The rate agreed between you and the agency includes an uplift to include the employer costs. The reason this is shown on your payslip is to make sure you are aware of all deductions made to the income received by Rebus on your behalf.

The Apprenticeship Levy will be a levy on UK employers to fund new apprenticeships. The levy will be charged at a rate of 0.5% of an employer’s pay bill. This is included in the uplifted rate your agency sends to Rebus.

At the sign-up stage, you will be asked to prove you have the right to work in the UK. This is done to comply with current Home Office guidance. Acceptable examples of ID can be found here.
